somehow I managed to crawl down without rolling to a sense of relief mixed with the painstaking awareness that I’d made a grave mistake

and i only had a very short window in the freezing cold water at the bottom of Australia in the middle of winter to make it happen

i didn't have to jump in the cold ocean (this is shot from land with a telephoto lens) and i could just appreciate the warmth of the morning sun on my face and focus on my positioning and creating a potential art piece from all the swell lines marching in

let alone captured
