Collingwood School and Media College

Elements

‘Elements’ showcases art and film created by students at Collingwood School and Media Arts College, at Stobhillgate near Morpeth.

Elements is their exploration of the wonders of nature, and their surroundings, in a time marked by the threat of climate change. The title references the ancient Greeks’ theories on the four elements of earth, wind, fire and water, in which they tried to explain the relationship between nature and humans, and believed that if the balance was disrupted, then problems would arise.

Collingwood boasts a Media Suite for all students, with a state of the art video and sound facility, featuring a professional video studio, and full multi track recording studio, and it is run by a specialist production team. The Art Department runs alongside this, offering a wide range of media, and is led by a qualified ceramicist and a practising visual artist.

Collingwood serves students across the whole of Northumberland who have additional needs. The college has been awarded Arts Council England’s prestigious Artsmark Platinum Award, for demonstrating its commitment to providing a high-quality arts and cultural education for all students.
