The PUBlic Window

The PUBlic Window

The PUBlic Window is possibly Northumberland’s smallest (and newest) gallery measuring just 15cm by 77cm.

We have been unable to open The RePUBlic Gallery due to lockdown restrictions, so The PUBlic Window is our COVID-resilient strategy for bringing some inspiration and joy in these difficult times.

Back in December we ran an open call asking artists to send in proposals for The PUBlic Window, we received such a fantastic range of ideas that we decided to select three artists to exhibit over the next three months, each running for 4 weeks.

The PUBlic Window opened on Monday 18th January – 2021’s ‘Blue Monday’ – hoping our tiny gallery could something to combat this gloomy day, in what proves to be a gloomy start to the year!

We will still open The RePUBlic Gallery as soon as we can – this is a little something extra for the time being.

Angharad Creissen is the first artist to exhibit in The PUBlic Window. ‘Slips of Yew’ will be displayed until the 19th February 2021. For more information on her work see her write up (click on the image of her work on our home page) and have a peak at our Instagram @republic_gallery!
