The Gare
A collection of photography and sculpture which examines the intersecting personal and historical narratives of South Gare through its objects and images.
South Gare, or the Gare, is an industrial breakwater along the coast from Redcar on the North East coast, home to 100 huts which exist in a liminal zone between dunes and the dismantled steelworks.
Artist Bio
Cody Sowerby is an artist from Middlesbrough who uses sculpture, found objects and photography to explore the psychic terrain of the post-industrial landscape. Cody lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne and has shown nationally and internationally including shows at The Newbridge Project, Newcastle (2019); NCA, Newcastle (2023); University of Victoria, Canada (2023) and Atelier 2020, Mexico (2022).
