#NE24 WAD
I Am More Than
RePUBlic Gallery Eyes Opens World Aids Day Exhibition #NE24 WAD from the 30th of November to 14th December.
The exhibition includes artwork created during the EyesOpen #Iammorethan sessions where we used art and pebble painting to talk about personal stigma.
The pebble project provided us the opportunity to address myths and understand more about living well with HIV in 2024.
We have the work of a number of local and world known artists that have support the U=U campaign and #KNOWHIVNOSTIGMA message. Artists that have witnessed negativity in the media, to themselves or people close to them.
No one understands discrimination and Stigma more than misrepresented and marginalised groups and that is reflected in the pieces in our community wall section of our exhibition. #KNOWHIVNOSTIGMA
The Oral Histories immersive experience will take you through the lives of a range of people from across the Northeast living with HIV.
The exhibition includes a print of the work created by Sir Henry Hate, ‘Monument One’ that was created for Eyes open. The original painting lives just up the road at Cramlington Health Academy to highlighting HIV discrimination in health care. The light box ribbon – shines on the future. A place where old miss conceptions and stereotypes are banished and instead a positive message, less HIV transmission, prevention medication, support for women and a message of positivity from those living well with HIV!
